The 3 Different Types of Swimming Pool

You may think there are only 2 different kinds of swimming pool: in-ground and above-ground. But there are actually 3 different in-ground pool types: vinyl, fiberglass, and concrete. Here’s a brief overview of each of these 3 varieties.

Vinyl pools are the least expensive type of pool, and they only take 4-8 weeks to install. These pools are popular for their smooth texture and customizability, but they have shorter lifespans than other pool types, as they are easily prone to damage.

They need to be replaced every 5-9 years.

Fiberglass pools require the least maintenance and can be installed in just 3-6 weeks. These pools are much less customizable since they are made in one piece in a factory before installation. However, there are many different shapes and features available on the market. Fiberglass pools are extremely durable, often coming with warranties of 20-30 years.

Concrete pools, also known as gunite or shotcrete pools, are the most common type of in-ground pool. These pools are fully customizable, making them ideal for large yards, and they last for a person’s whole life. However, they tend to take a long time to install, and they require a lot of maintenance.

Before you install an in-ground pool, be sure to explore your options so you can pick the best pool type for your needs.
